FOCUSED ATTENTION

Also called Zazen meditation (cool, right?) has been practiced for over 2,500 years.  This is the classic practice where you sit with yourself and concentrate on being in the moment.  I think this takes a little practice, but it's doable.  Click here for more info.

MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness (open monitoring) meditation is designed to help us become more conscious of what is.  It's intention isn't to alter our state, but to pay nonjudgmental attention to our experiences.  Being present in this way has the benefit of detaching us from the pain of suffering.  Click here for more information.

JUST BREATHE

It's sort of cheating, but if nothing else, close your eyes and breathe slowly into your belly feeling it expand.  Hold for a second and then exhale.  Do this for a minute and it will help calm you and find your center.
